About Astrid Ritmeester

Astrid Ritmeester is a Dutch realist portrait artist whose paintings rely on 17th Century Dutch and Flemish techniques. She uses traditional layered oil techniques to create a tasteful and soft portrait, laying the focus on the eyes of her subject. In her recent work she uses bright colours and modern subjects.
Her background as a theater costume designer gives her portraits a bright, theatrical touch.
Astrid took part of several solo and group exhibitions in Dutch museums and  galleries and also twice in Zhou B Art Center in Chicago. She was published multiple times by Poets and Artists Magazine.
