ALICE HOLE
About Alice Hole.
As an artist, I can’t help but be constantly inspired by my surroundings in Cornwall where I live. I love the beautiful landscapes which change with the seasons, dramatic coastlines with vast skies, rolling turquoise seas and the historic mining towns with their quirky architecture and meandering lanes. The light in Cornwall is like nowhere else and like many artists before me, this continues to be a main source of my inspiration.
Drawing and painting has always been a passion of mine since I could first pick up a pencil and paintbrush! I studied a degree in metals and textiles at university which I enjoyed, but it was my sketchbooks which became the real focus of my work, and where my creativity flourished.
This really began to develop after moving to Helston, ‘The Gateway to The Lizard’ deep in the heart of south west Cornwall in 2012. I love to draw and paint detailed scenes depicting little corners of the landscape which may have been overlooked. I like to see what others may have missed and show the character of this dramatic environment, drenched in that special Cornish light. My aim is to make people feel a part of my artwork so that they can almost ‘walk into’ a drawing or painting, imagining what is just around the corner and creating their own story inspired by the piece.
My work has been exhibited throughout Cornwall & beyond and has been awarded prizes in art competitions, including ‘The Artist and Leisure Painter Open Art Exhibition’. It has also been featured in many art blogs and featured in magazines including 'The Artist Magazine' and 'Artists & Illustrators Magazine'
I am also very honoured to have been accepted into membership of The National Acrylic Painters Association (NAPA)
The Artist and Leisure Painter Open Art Exhibition 2015 - Finalist and Alpha Shop Award winner with 'Newlyn Harbour'
The Artist and Leisure Painter Open Art Exhibition 2016 - Finalist with 'Autumn at Loe Pool'
Jackson's Art Supplies Acrylic Painting Competition 2016 - Runner up prize for 'Falling Leaves Hide the Path so Quietly'
